Snaggletooth

I've known for a while now that my baby girl is a gap-toothed beauty. I don't have any past pictures that show it well, but her two front teeth have a good-sized gap between them. I'm sure it's something only a parent can appreciate and love. But yesterday, my daughter graduated from gap-toothed to gap-toothed AND snaggletoothed. (Is that a word?) Take a look:

The story: Connor (admit it, you knew he was involved) was chasing Kaitlynn around the house trying to "get" her. Well, he got her alright. He gave her a little punch in the back which sent her flying teeth first into our hardwood floors. She got up crying and then there was a little something crunchy in her mouth. Bye-bye front tooth. Hello snaggletooth.

As a follow-up, we visited our dentist this morning just so he could have a look. He doesn't think the break went through the nerve, so the tooth should be OK (some baby teeth that break will "die" and turn gray). But he suggested we visit the pediodontist (children's dental specialist) when Kaitlynn turns 2 to have it cosmetically touched up. Oh boy, can you imagine how that visit will go?

  1. Oh no! I have feared that so many times when Jackson has landed so hard, face first on the tile in the kitchen. Poor Kaitlynn!

  3. Oh no poor Kaitlynn. That couldn't have felt good. Jacob chipped one of his bottom teeth about a year ago. Except he chipped it on a piece of hard candy. Ooops! :)

  4. Every time Alex goes down for a fall, I fear he will do the exact same thing! I just hold my breath hoping that he'll clear his mouth in the fall. Just the other day we were at the park, and he fell on the brick sidewalk and scraped his lip right under his nose. Yowzers. I know there's a lot more to come...

  5. Amanda and I were just talking the other day about falls and how fearful you are for them... and about how one of Zack's front teeth went "gray" after a fall that caught that tooth. It is just so hard to know that... and to watch them fall... OUCH! She is a cute little snaggletooth. =)
