Family Visit in Katy

After our incredible week in Wimberley, we had even more fun lined up back in Katy. We planned an epic family visit with Nana and Grandpa Dave, Grandpa Jerry and Grandma Cheryl, Uncle Chris, MeMe and Grandaddy, and Collin and Kevin. Even Uncle Ben and Aunt Charlotte managed to join us for a while. Everyone came together to spend time with Jeff while he was back in Texas. It has always been such a rare treat for both sides of our family to be together. What a blessing!

Jeff and I were still staying at Julie and Harry's house, and they had graciously offered to let us host our family at their gorgeous home. It was the perfect setting for everyone to relax and catch up. The guys quickly settled into their comfort zone with poker and card games, while the ladies and kids enjoyed visiting and making sure that Connor hadn't outgrown us yet. I'd say it's only a few short months away, ha!

The Courtright side of the family has always been a bit car-obsessed. Everyone had to step outside to take a look at Collin's baby.

During our tine together, we all enjoyed several trips out for yummy meals and treats. There is never a shortage of good food during family visits.

We were blown away by the love and support from our family, who put aside busy schedules and potential awkwardness (haha) to all come together in one place.

We had the most special time of family bonding with nonstop fun and laughter. It was a weekend we will forever cherish!

Fun in Wimberley

Our Wimberley vacation home was the most gorgeous piece of property in the Texas Hill Country with a lot to explore. Jeff and I joined MeMe and Grandaddy for a morning hike around the property, and Grandaddy made sure we were prepared with walking sticks for whatever adventure we might encounter. It was a fun hike with gorgeous views and maybe a couple of falls, ha!

As much fun as our family had at our vacation home, we managed to venture out into the town of Wimberley for some offsite activities, too. On one morning, the girls enjoyed a day of shopping while the guys went out to golf. Later that day, the guys played a game of frisbee golf on site, and it was quite entertaining to watch as the sun was setting. Beautiful!

On another day, most of our group ventured into New Braunfels for some tubing on the Comal River. It was a first time for many of us, and we didn't know what to expect. The weather was cooler than expected because the sun was mostly behind the clouds, but it was great fun.

After tubing, our entire group met MeMe and Grandaddy in Gruene at the famous Gristmill restaurant for lunch. We all enjoyed our meals but ended up with TONS of leftovers to take back home.

On another day, we all ventured out to the Blue Hole Regional Park, which is a local park with a forested natural swimming area. There are rope swings, a huge lawn for lounging, walking trails, and picnic tables. The water was far too cold for me, but the kids really enjoyed the swings and swimming during our visit. It was such a fun and beautiful setting.

We were never short on fun things to do while in the Wimberley area, and the summer vacation was a complete success for the entire group!

Morgan Family Trip to Wimberley

The main reason that we left Dubai before the kids' school dismissed for the summer was so that we could get back to Texas in time for our annual Morgan family summer trip. It's always the highlight of our summer, kicked off with our family selfies as we document the road trip there.

This was our first full week in Texas, and this year, my parents had rented a house for us in the Texas hill country in Wimberley. We were so excited to see the "mansion" in the hills, but nothing beat our excitement for seeing the entire family again.

We knew from the descriptions and photos of our rental house that it was no ordinary house. But seeing it in person just blew us away. You name it, this house had it. From the beautiful open floor plan and massive kitchen to the multiple wings with 5 separate bedrooms to accommodate each of our families, we couldn't believe it. And oh my, that VIEW!

The property had a separate building with a huge game room for foosball, ping pong, air hockey, shuffleboard, and a pinball machine, along with a kitchenette, bathroom, and a 3-level media room with 10 comfy recliners and a big movie screen. Awesome!

For the outdoor areas, there was a massive outdoor kitchen and picnic area, firepit, hot tub, and a beautiful sprawling pool overlooking the incredible hill country view. We were in AWE of our home for the week and loved exploring all it had to offer.

Of course, our favorite outdoor activity is always the pool. This pool looked beautiful from the photos but was even more fun in person. It had multiple chairs and ledges for lounging as well as soothing waterfalls and a built-in wading area. We always seem to have our favorite times enjoying the sand and conversations (and loads of laughs) out by the pool.

Spending quality family time during our Morgan Family summer trip is always so refreshing, but this year it was extra special for us since we had missed Christmas and other events due to our move to Dubai. The cousins were so happy being together again and never had trouble finding fun to have together. Kaitlynn and Marissa enjoyed special bonding as mermaids, and Connor was talked into an impromptu makeup / glam session. Don't feel too sorry for him...he was paid $10! Ha!
