Jeff's Summer Break

Jeff found out in May that his position at BMC Software was being eliminated. It came as quite a shock since he had been there for 4 years and had really made a name for himself due to lots of long hours and hard work. Fortunately Jeff had already been looking for a new job because he had been quite unhappy with some changes happening at BMC, so when his last day rolled around in June he already had some good leads for new positions in Houston. After a very intense and laborious job search, he accepted a position as Controller for an oil and gas company in the Galleria area of Houston. And check this out: there's even a press release about his appointment. We're so proud of him!

Since July 1st, Jeff has been off work and (besides all the job searching) has really been enjoying tons of family time. The first day he was at home, the kids were acting up a bit and really giving him a hard time. At the end of the day, he said to me, "I don't know how you do this all day. I'm going crazy!" Aha! Finally, some validation for those that think staying at home is super easy! And don't think for a second I will let him forget it, ha!

It's been so nice to see Jeff finally get a chance to relax and enjoy some time off. And he'll need it because once he starts the new job, he'll likely be working long hours and traveling quite a bit. But we feel so blessed that he found such a great job so quickly and that he was able to take some time off in between.

Catching the biggest catfish yet -- 24 inches!

Hard to see in the picture, but this is his "BMC Cares" shirt. He added the word "doesn't", ha!

Lots of playtime with the little ones. Not sure who will miss it more, Jeff or the kids!

Jeff's favorite - taking the kids to the pool or splashpad.

  1. Congrats to Jeff on his new job. What a relief for you guys that he found something so quickly. And sounds like it was a blessing that it all worked so he had some much needed time off with the fam before his crazy schedule kicks in.

And girl it is music to my ears too when I hear Jim say how do you do this everyday, I would go crazy!! Validation and explanation for my feelings and mood on some days. :)

Congrats again Jeff and good luck!!

  5. I'm so excited for Jeff and his new job. Though I'm sure it's going to be hard for you to have him back at work after having the extra help around the house! It is nice for the guys to really understand what we do all day, isn't it? I'll admit right now that it's not too bad with Jackson but I know a little tornado is about to come through a rip my easy days apart! :-) Good luck to Jeff in his new job!
