One of the highlights of our Florida vacation was spending time with Uncle Justin (a.k.a. Tuna). He recently became a firefighter and now works with Engine 43 in The Villages, Florida. Since firefighters work 24-hour shifts, they sometimes spend part of their time in the firehouse cooking and making elaborate meals to enjoy for dinner. So Tuna invited us to spend an evening at the firehouse and he even cooked us a yummy spaghetti dinner! After dinner we had an awesome tour of the fire station and all of the neat equipment like the firetrucks and hoses they use to fight fires. It was so neat to see Tuna in his element and meet his fellow firefighters as well. Thanks for a fun evening, Tuna. We are so proud of you!!

Tuna got out one of the truck's hoses and let everyone have a turn spraying the hose. Here's Connor's turn.
Kevin's turn.
Collin's turn.
Kaitlynn was just chillaxin' in her stroller.
And finally Jeff's turn. The water pressure is so strong that the water shoots out over 100 feet!

Now that's some kind of FUN uncle! Everyone had a good time. I love to see the fire truck pulled up to the grocery store when I go... the firemen (there are always several shopping) always have the best looking stuff in their carts! I know dinner is going to be great!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Looks like every little boy's dream evening. And it seems as though the big boys had a lot of fun too! It's nice for the boys to see their uncle doing such a noble job. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm still VERY sad about this week. I feel like I missed such an opportunity to spend more time with you. I'm just really disappointed but I know this is just a season in our lives and at some point it will get easier to spend time together. :-(
Oh wow- what a fun experience for the family. I bet you all enjoyed the behind the scenes tour. Especially all those boys. Cool that you have a firefighter on both sides!
ReplyDeleteThere must be a story behind the name Tuna. I would never look at him and think that he was a "Tuna."
ReplyDeleteAnyway, looks like such a great outing, and how fun that you got to have dinner at the firehouse! How cool is that?! I tell you, Connor has had some really neat excursions this year - football camp, the firehouse. He'll have lots of stories to tell when he starts back to school. =)
