KYF Texans - Our Favorite Cheerleader

Our KYF Texans cheer squad.

Here's what I'll say about Kaitlynn in her cheer career so far. Before the season, she LOVES the idea of cheering. She gets excited about seeing her friends and participating in the games.

But somewhere along the way, Kaitlynn tends to lose her enthusiasm for cheering. She is also very weather-sensitive and complains constantly if she's too hot, too cold, or too wet. (I called her Goldilocks last year and that still applies.)

Cheering loud and proud!

Kaitlynn was incredibly blessed with her cheer coach, Coach Janna, this year. Janna has a son on our Texans team but not a daughter, and yet she was willing to put up with the drama that comes with 5 girls on a cheer squad. She had Kaitlynn's number from the beginning and always knew the best way to deal with her.

The girls had a GREAT season. Several of our games were cold and rainy, to the point of being soaked through to the bone. But the girls cheered through each game and kept (mostly) good attitudes. Coach Janna spoiled the girls rotten, always giving them fun treats and gifts. And each week, she chose a head cheerleader to lead the cheers and sit atop the pyramid stunt. That was a BIG incentive for the girls!

October is always pink for breast cancer awareness. The girls love it!

Striking a pose, one of her strengths!

When it was Kaitlynn's turn to be head cheerleader, she was SO excited! Luckily the weather was nice, and I applied some light makeup so that she would feel more special. She kept a HUGE smile on her face all day!

Oh my heart, this beautiful girl!!

As the season progressed, Kaitlynn did a great job but continued to have her ups and downs with her participation on the squad. She always performed great, but her moods and attitude sometimes suffered. I ended up telling her that it would likely be her last season of cheer. I think she was OK with that because she really just wanted to play during the games anyway. Only time will tell if she'll rejoin a squad next year, but I'm not sure I'll ever see a cuter cheerleader!
