Yee-haw for the Rodeo!

I'm running several weeks late on our recent activities. We had our spring break a couple of weeks ago and the first activity on our agenda was to attend the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. This year we didn't manage to make any of the rodeo shows but instead just visited the carnival with our usual group: Benjamin, Timothy, Brady, and Tanner. We had a few strikes against us for the day: it was the first day of spring break, it was the first clear day after MANY days of rain, and it was HOT. Add to that the challenges of kids in cowboy gear (not the most comfortable clothes and certainly not easy to get in/out of for bathroom trips) as well as a potty-training 2-year-old, and well, it wasn't the most fun day for the Mommies. Next year we'll be forcing the Daddies to come along. :-)

Our primary goal for the morning was to take pictures of the boys in their rodeo gear. These little cowboys are just so darn cute! We lined them up and snapped away. Lots of folks walked by commenting on how great they all looked.

Love those cowboys! After pictures, our next stop is always the pony rides. All 6 of our kiddos (Lily was at home) rode at the same time and were ALL smiles.

All lined up to watch the pig races!

One of the many carnival rides -- Monster Trucks.

One day after we visited the rodeo, there was an accident at the carnival where a 3-year-old fell out of one of the rides. This is the 2nd year in a row where someone there has been seriously injured or killed. I'm beginning to question my judgment in letting the kids enjoy the carnival. Scary!

Our 5 cowboys with Howdy the rodeo mascot.

All the kiddos.

It may not have been the best rodeo visit we've had, but it was still a fun start to our Spring Break!

Sounds like a little less than pefect on the fun-day scale, but the pictures were worth it!!

My goodness Kaitlynn is getting all grown up on us!! Love her in her boots!

  2. Oh my goodness. Those pictures are adorable! Framers for sure! What a fun memory for the boys and the pictures to go with it! Yes I agree, trips like these are much easier with daddy along.

I love that you guys do this every year and love that Connor has such good friends in those boys--what a blessing!

And little Miss Kaitlynn--ADORABLE in those boots. She wasn't going to be left out now was she. Love it!

  3. You guys know how to do it up right! How precious are those cowboys and that cowgirl! Looks like a slight meltdown for the cowgirl in the car possibly? Too much fun maybe? Glad no one got hurt on the rides. :-) Love and miss you guys.

  4. I look forward to your Rodeo posts every year the same way I look forward to Katherine's pumpkin patch. I think it's so fun that you have a tradition of going with the same sweet crew each year.

I hate that the day was less than ideal, but, girl, you got some GREAT pictures. And that has to make it a little better, right? Those first few need to find a way into a frame ASAP! Pioneer Woman has a free action called "vintage" and another one called "heartland" that would be super cute on those photos. Just sayin'. ;-)
