Summer Fun with Friends

Kaitlynn wasn't the only one who celebrated her birthday in the summer. It seemed like she was invited to so many birthday parties all around the same time, and she always enjoyed the excuse to hang out with her friends and eat birthday cake. Kaitlynn's friend, Skylar, invited their fun group of cheer friends over for a fun summer afternoon of swimming, food, and birthday celebrations. They all had such a blast!

Around the same time, Kaitlynn's group was invited to celebrate another friend's birthday - Kylie and her twin brother Keaton. Their family always goes above and beyond for celebrations, and Kaitlynn had so much fun joining in on the birthday festivities!

With all the hectic schedules and commitments from basketball and cheer, you'd think Kaitlynn wouldn't have any extra time for much else. But she was determined to improve on some tumbling skills and took every opportunity to work in the gym with her fellow cheer friends, Alyssa and Olivia. They are the best kind of friends - always encouraging one another and celebrating in their personal successes together. Love these sweet girls and their great work ethic!

Of course, with all that fun, Kaitlynn was bound to crash at some point. After one of her tough strength and conditioning practices, she ended up making herself sick and needing to take it easy with the "sick bowl" on the couch upstairs. I fear she may have inherited her mother's rare migraines!

Of course, you can't keep this girl down for long. Before we knew it, she was back outside playing with the neighbors. They invited her along to groom one of their animal friends, so cute!

Another animal friend Kaitlynn made during the summer was an uninvited guest into our backyard pool. It was a mouse that went for a swim and never made it back out; poor little guy never stood a chance! Kaitlynn was determined to go for a swim and was the brave one of the family that was able to retrieve him and give him a little toss over the back gate. Farewell little buddy!

Probably the most fun Kaitlynn had all summer was her time at the local waterpark, Typhoon Texas. Most of her friends had season passes and the parents just took turns carpooling them for some fun in the sun. I always requested some photos of their waterpark days, and sometimes they would end up staying ALL day long - crazy! It's the best kind of summer fun... water and sunshine, followed by complete exhaustion back at home!
