Mother Daughter Thursdays

As the month of February drew to a close, we found ourselves quite busy and overwhelmed with work, baseball practices, tumbling/cheer classes, school activities, and just the general hustle and bustle of life. Despite our hectic schedule, Kaitlynn and I managed to carve out a couple of  Thursday evenings together in preparation for a big event. No spoilers yet! It was a bit stressful for me to shuffle my schedule and work everything in, but in the end, I was so happy to have some special one-on-one time with my girl.

On our first Thursday evening together, we headed to Memorial City Mall for a LONG overdue haircut. Check out her before and after!

From there, we went to our favorite spot for fancy dresses - Dillard's! By far, they always have the best selection of young ladies' dresses in all styles and colors. I should point out that Thursday evenings are a GREAT time for quiet and productive shopping trips. We loaded up our arms with options and went to the dressing room to see if we could find a winner.

Kaitlynn tried on about 10-15 dresses. Some were an easy "No!" while others looked so great that it was hard to decide. She picked an easy winner, while I wasn't as sure. Again, no spoilers here. Do you think you can guess which dress she chose?

She worked up quite an appetite trying on all those dresses, so of course, she needed a little pick-me-up in the form of a cookie with lots of icing.

We tried really hard to find her a pair of shoes to match her selected dress, but I was running short on energy and patience. Plus, this girl is now wearing a women's size 8.5 shoe, and dress shoes are not cheap! We left the mall but agreed to make one last stop at another shoe store closer to home. Once we were there, we found the perfect set of kitten heels to match the dress she picked out. By then, we were both exhausted and quite delirious!

Because Thursday evenings were the ONLY free nights we had without activities or practices of some sort, we managed to fit in one final activity on the following Thursday after school - mother and daughter manicures and pedicures. Now the stage was finally set for a BIG event for Kaitlynn, one that had been YEARS in the making.
