First Day of School - 8th and 5th

Before we knew it, the first day of school had arrived. We were ALL feeling nervous and maybe a bit uncertain about returning to school back in Katy. It was Connor's first day of 8th grade and Kaitlynn's first day of 5th grade. We had all changed so much in the time we'd been away from Texas, and it was their 3rd/4th new school in less than 2 years. Despite the nerves, the kids were all smiles in our annual back to school front porch photos.

Jeff took Connor to school and I ended up driving Kaitlynn to the elementary school where they allow the parents to walk their kids to class for the first several days. I wanted to make sure she felt comfortable in her new environment, and she was definitely all smiles! When we arrived early at school, however, I couldn't believe the line that had formed from outside the front entrance. Due to the volume of parents and the slow process of filing into the school, it took us about 20-30 minutes just to get to Kaitlynn's classroom. I've never seen anything like that, but I was sure happy that Kaitlynn seemed to be ready and excited for her first day.

We started the school year thinking that both kids would ride the school bus home from school. But after experiencing a ton of delays along with Connor's ever-changing football practice schedule, we ended up letting Kaitlynn ride the bus home but picking up Connor from school instead. Both kids both had a positive report from their first day, which we were so thankful to hear. Here's hoping that would continue throughout the year!
