Times Square Center and Bounce Dubai

After we arrived in Dubai, one of the first errands I needed to run was to shop for school uniforms for the kids. The uniform shop is located in a mall called Times Square Center, so the kids and I took a Careem ride (similar to Uber) while Jeff was at work.

The uniform store, Threads, supplies many schools in Dubai. We walked in and found exactly what we needed right away. Both kids had to try on the clothes because the sizing is a little different here. Can you tell which one of them isn't too thrilled?? Ha! While I, on the other hand, am super happy -- no more fights or struggles over what to wear every morning!!

After we made our uniform purchases, we decided to explore the rest of the Times Square mall. It is actually quite small in comparison to other malls in the area. There was a cool store called Adventure HQ which had a neat-looking ropes course that we thought we might want to try some day, and we enjoyed the food court with a yummy Mexican-food spot. Other than that, we didn't find much to entertain us. I asked the lady at the information desk if there was anything nearby within walking distance for us to explore, but she said it was mostly car dealerships.

A week later, I was researching local places to take the kids for something fun to do. I discovered a local trampoline park (their favorite!) called Bounce Dubai, and the kids couldn't wait to visit. So we took another Careem, and I was surprised to see that it was only a block or two from Times Square Center. When we arrived at Bounce Dubai, we were given a wait time of 2 hours due to a private party. So the kids and I decided to walk over to Times Square for some lunch and more exploring along the way. We saw some super cool cars (I forgot to take pictures!) as well as some other fun stores.

When we arrived at Times Square, I was again surprised when we discovered a lower level that we hadn't noticed on our previous visit. To our delight, the lower level actually had a secondhand bookstore called House of Prose (which I had already seen online but didn't know where it was located) and we were able to load up on books by some of our favorite authors. There was another store on the lower level called Antika Dubai that had the cutest home décor made from recycled wood, so I will definitely be going back there in the future. We ate lunch at the food court and then walked back to Bounce for some trampoline fun.

The kids ended up loving the Bounce experience! There was so much to enjoy -- trampolines, dodgeball, basketball, parkour (wall climbing), and even the cool X-Park which is like the American Ninja Warrior experience. The X-Park was their favorite.

Part of the kids' Bounce park admission included a frozen slushy. I've never been big on these types of drinks (like 7-11 slurpies) but let me just say, these slushies were AMAZING and we will definitely be getting them on future visits.

Our trips to Times Square Center and Bounce Dubai ended up being both fun and productive, so I'm sure we will be coming back in the future.

  1. nosy question: what school are the kiddos going to? we had options of british or american in the hague way back when and chose the british one (which resulted in a very sweet little accent on my older daughter!).

  2. Yes, to uniforms, girl. I LOVE them!! Uniforms and athletic wear and we are completely stocked on wardrobe over here. Every day the exact same with the exception of dress-uniform a couple of times a month. Hopefully, once Connor is around all the other kids who are in uniform and it's "just what you do" everyday, he won't think it's so bad. Crossing my fingers for you. ;-)

Oh, and again, where are the people at the bounce place?? I know these places have to be more busy than what we see in the pictures, right?
