All Stars!

Connor's spring season of baseball with the Oakland A's may have ended on a tough note with all of the team's losses, but if you looked closely you wouldn't have seen any disappointed faces in our family. That's because Connor got the most exciting news as the season concluded -- he had been voted to the league's All Star team!

Our little All Star.

We were beyond surprised when Connor was selected for the team, and we jumped right into the practices and games. After losing almost every game in the regular season, the atmosphere on the All Star team felt very different. The coach held practices almost every evening, and his coaching style was tough but so effective. Every second of each practice was spent towards learning every aspect of the game.

Of course, most of these boys have been playing for years so Connor was definitely at a disadvantage skill-wise. He has a lot of room for growth and improvement, and he was just excited to be a part of this great team.

The All Star team was given new practice uniforms, including a practice jersey, all with the players names on them. Very cool! Connor felt very "official" and really enjoyed the new gear. He and his teammates couldn't wait for their games. Jeff and I were really impressed by the whole experience, including the official introductions of the players and the National Anthem playing before each game. Here's a few pictures from Connor's All Star experience.

Ready for his first All Star game.

Warming up.

Love the official jersey.

Up to bat.

In the dugout.

On base waiting for the signal to steal.

Running for a ball out in right field.

Rally cap in the dugout.

Team huddle after the final game and of course Connor has to crack a joke.

Shaking hands with Coach.

All smiles after the season ended.

Unfortunately, the Katy American All-Stars lost both of their games and were out of the tournament. But every kid had a blast and certainly enjoyed the extended season of baseball. We know what an honor it is to be on the team, and we felt lucky to be a part of it all.

After a tough loss, the boys were congratulated on a great season.

What a great season! We will be ready for next spring to do it all over again!
