Sold

When we realized we were going to sell our former house and move to Katy, Jeff and I knew right away that we needed to make a lot of changes and improvements to the house. As much as we LOVED our home, we knew that it needed some TLC with decluttering, furniture rearranging, paint touch ups, and so many other updates. We wanted the right buyer to walk in and fall in love with it, just like we did! With the help of our realtor, we hired a home stager and got to work on a long list of updates.

It took so much work (mostly by Jeff) but we finally felt really good about how the house was presented for buyers. It made my heart break to see our family home listed for sale on the realtor websites, but even I have to admit, the house never looked better. I thought I'd share a final house tour, mostly for our own benefit to remember this home that we loved (and still love) so much. (Sniff sniff.)

Our Sunset Lake home. We are sure gonna miss that culdesac.

The entry/foyer as you walk in the front door.

Off the entry was the dining room, which we used as a playroom/home office.

The living room. It looked so much bigger with the furniture this way.

The kitchen. As much as I loved it, it was a LOT of granite, ha!

The downstairs master bedroom.

Master bathroom -- the only room we never got around to updating!

Kevin's bedroom and also the guest suite with bathroom.

Kaitlynn's big girl room.

Connor's Houston Texans-themed bedroom. (We took down the large Fathead posters for staging.)

The left side yard -- so many football games were played there!

Our big project from last summer -- the back patio.

The side yard with pool. Man, we made some great memories out there.

A final look at the back of the house.

All of our hard work and staging efforts paid off when, after only 4 days on the market, we got a full-price offer on our house! It doesn't make up for all the money we put into the house, but it sure softened the blow a little bit because we were so worried that we wouldn't be able to sell easily (due to declining home values in the area). Even after getting the great offer, we still worried that something would fall through. But as it turned out, we were so surprised at how quickly and smoothly the process went.

It only seemed fitting when, on our final night at Sunset Lake, yet another gorgeous sunset bade us farewell and good night.

Despite being so grateful about a quick sale and smooth process, the heartache of leaving this place with so many fond memories is still alive and well. We know we made the right decision to move to Katy, so we just need some time to adjust and make memories at our new house so that it feels like, well, home.

  1. Wow! That stager was money well spent! Your house looked awesome! No wonder it sold in four days - bittersweet, I know. You'll be so glad that you have those pictures to look back on. Here's hoping the transition is going smoothly!
