Kicking off Basketball Season

Even before Kaitlynn's volleyball and sideline cheer seasons had concluded for the fall, she was already busy preparing for her next (and favorite!) season of school sports: basketball! Enter Sweet Daddy, who was ready as always to coach Kaitlynn on to a successful week of tryouts for the Lady Timberwolves. Morning or night, those two could be found outside practicing her shots and drills as she worked toward the season ahead. All the hard work paid off, and Kaitlynn soon found herself back on A Team with some of her favorite teammates.

One of the bright spots for Kaitlynn this year was playing under one of WoodCreek's most amazing leaders, Coach Severin, who was always ready with an encouraging word for these girls. Kaitlynn adored her coach and teammates alike - such a wonderful group and ready for the fun season ahead.

Occasionally Kaitlynn found herself performing double-duty with both basketball and cheer responsibilities. It was really fun to have her cheer squad root her on when she was doing her thing on the court!

When the Lady Timberwolves played at Katy High School, it was a unique treat for us to see Kaitlynn perform at half time with her cheer squad while wearing her basketball uniform for her upcoming game. She wasn't super thrilled about it because she never wants to stand out, but it was such a cool experience for Jeff and me. As Jeff says, "there's a LOT of hard work represented in this photo." So true!

By far, Kaitlynn's heart was with her basketball team more than anything cheer-related. She loved her team and relished every moment on the court. She was working hard to prove herself and getting some great play time. We loved seeing her determination as she skillfully ran her plays and performed well at her assigned role. The Katy game was probably the most fun for all of us, seeing and competing against friends from rival junior highs. And it was especially rewarding for Kaitlynn to be included in a Facebook post from the Katy High School women's basketball coach - Go Tigers! That was actually the game where Kaitlynn was named the offensive player of the week. Awesome!
