After Connor's regular season of baseball ended with Dubai Little League, he joined a tournament team to play during a weekend in late April. Jeff was one of the coaches for the DXB team and they had such a great time throughout the spring with all of their practices. The team didn't win at the tournament, but played so tough against some really experienced teams from Dubai, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. It was a great playing experience for all the boys.
The annual tournament is a big deal here, apparently. There were lots of sponsors providing services, including Subway catering and the Desert Chill ice cream truck (see what they did there? ha!).
The funniest thing to me, though, was that they tarped off the dugouts and hooked up air conditioning units to keep the players cool during the hot weather. It was probably mid to upper 90s during the heat of the day, which isn't unusual compared to our Texas baseball games. Imagine if we did this back home in Texas?? Super nice for the players!
During most games, Kaitlynn and the other little siblings could be found playing with Kaitlynn's kinetic sand kit. That turned out to be a life-saver during the long weekends of games this entire spring!
We are so grateful for the Dubai Little League experience this entire spring and we look forward to returning to the league this fall, with Kaitlynn being able to play softball this season as well. The DLL community has really helped us to feel at home while we've gone through the sometimes difficult transition of moving to Dubai.
