I think I mentioned before that the kids' Spring Break at Dubai American Academy lasts 2 whole weeks. This is the norm in Dubai, and most families take the opportunity to travel during the extended break. The kids were SO excited about having two entire weeks off from school (plus a half-day the week before to kick it off) and couldn't wait for the downtime. We had big plans for our Spring Break, because Collin and Kevin were coming to visit us from the US. The boys weren't able to arrive until the 2nd week of Spring Break, so the scheduling wasn't ideal. The kids and I took advantage of the first full week to relax and do some fun things on our own before hosting the big brothers in early April.
For our first week of Spring Break, we scheduled several play dates, enjoyed a local favorite Iranian restaurant (yummy!), went to see a movie, and hung out at our local pool. The slow pace was so nice and gave us time to plan some fun activities for when the boys would arrive the following week.
I couldn't resist the following photo of Kaitlynn and her "new BFF" on a playdate one afternoon. Girls are just the sweetest and cutest, naturally holding hands to express their friendship and affection. As Jeff would say, they are JUST SO DIFFERENT from boys, ha!
We still had a couple more fun things planned before the boys would arrive, but even our first week of low-key fun had us all pooped out. (She was sound asleep this way for over an hour. OUCH!)
