Another post with a random collection of photos. Do you ever wonder why I "waste" blog space on these? Well, it's only because I like the photos for one reason or another and just want to make sure they end up in our family yearbook!
I couldn't resist posting this one of Kaitlynn waiting for her morning chicken biscuit for breakfast. What started as our obsession with Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits for breakfast turned into a chicken-biscuit-for-any-occasion situation at our house. We started buying these frozen snacks and the kids would eat them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and anytime in between. There were times when we had DOZENS in our freezer. What can I say, at least they had protein!
Earlier this year, we happened to drive by our city of Katy park and the kids begged us to stop and play. I don't know how we managed to live in Katy for 4 years without coming here, because this park was amazing. Jeff was always the "good guy" who took the kids and their friends to play here, and they always loved it.
Speaking of food obsessions, at some point over the last year or two, Connor developed a love for steak. Or should I say, an all out love affair with it! He began begging to eat steak often, and soon we discovered that Texas Roadhouse offered a kid's meal with steak. Well that's all it took, Texas Roadhouse was officially our favorite new restaurant. Connor always orders the Andy's Steak on the kid's menu, which is a 6 ounce filet, and he orders it cooked medium rare, which always surprises the waiters who then look to us incredulously to confirm. Yes, he prefers his steak medium rare and eats every bite, every time!
Earlier this year, Kaitlynn made up a "board" game called Save the Prince. She convinced her Sweet Daddy to play it with her and they had hours of fun with this game for weeks!
Also earlier this year, I went to our local Katy City Hall to perform my civic duty. Kaitlynn came with me and I enjoyed teaching her about the importance of voting.
I got a call from the school nurse one afternoon letting me know that Kaitlynn was in her office. She had bumped her head on the playground and was developing a black eye. When she got home that day, I was surprised to see how bad it was. Sure enough, she had the worst black eye and it stuck around for over a week!
One of Kaitlynn's neat projects from 2nd grade was Flat Stanley. The children were asked to mail their Flat Stanley character to friends/family around the world and see what adventures he might be able to take on. Kaitlynn chose to mail her Flat Stanley to Nana and Grandpa in California, because she was certain that Stanley would love that part of the country. Nana and Grandpa did a great job showing Stanley around their area, and it was really neat to see the collection of adventures from the entire class displayed outside their classroom.
Also in the spring, Kaitlynn was excited to attend the spring recital of one of the local dance companies in Katy. She planned to see her bestie Lily and ended up watching her sweet friend, Dominique as well. Kaitlynn LOVED every second of the performances and immediately begged me to start taking dance classes again!
One last photo, a rare "day date" (my favorite kind of dates!) with my man. Love when we can get some time away from the kiddos.
