During Connor's elementary school years in Katy, he participated in the Challenge program for gifted and talented (GT) students. Some of his best friends over the years were from his Challenge class, and he truly benefited from the curriculum and extra projects throughout the program.
The 5th grade Challenge students were asked to complete a year-end "capstone" project to wrap up their years of participation in the elementary program. They were asked to choose a topic and then develop a display project for a presentation to their class. Then they had to perform the same presentation at a district-wide event for all elementary Challenge students. It was an opportunity for the kids to show off some creativity as well as putting their skills to use.
When Connor began preparing for his Challenge project, his selected topic came as no surprise to anyone -- football! He joined with a fellow classmate and decided to research the impact of the NFL on our American economy. The title of their project was "Cash & Pigskin." Love it!
Connor and Matthew did a great job on their project, and we really enjoyed seeing their presentation in person at the Challenge event. Connor was completely in his element, both in presenting in front of others as well as talking about his very favorite topic.
I am so grateful to Connor's Challenge teacher, Ms. Johnston, as well as all of the other kiddos that made Connor's experience so rewarding throughout the years. He made lifelong friends and had such incredible educational opportunities.
