Jeff Visits Home

After a LONG 7 weeks of FaceTime phone calls and daily countdowns, the day finally arrived when Jeff was able to come home to Katy for a 10-day visit. It was the longest time by far that he had ever been away from the kids and they were all beyond excited. I told Jeff I wanted to video his reunion with the kids but he asked me not to. I wish I would've ignored his request because it was the sweetest, most joyful reunion. Kaitlynn burst into tears and jumped into his arms, sobbing loudly from sheer happiness at seeing him again. Connor, hearing Kaitlynn's outburst, ran downstairs and straight into Jeff's arms, fighting hard to hold back the happy tears. It was the greatest moment and I was soaking it all in, which explains why I didn't even manage a single photo.

After the emotions wore off, we were all just so happy to have Jeff home. We had packed in a TON of fun for his visit and couldn't wait to resume "normal" life. First up was Connor's Saturday morning Falcons football game. Jeff was thrilled to be back with the team and to see them play again. Of all the things Jeff had been missing from home, coaching Connor's team may have been one of the hardest. He loved all of those boys and coaches and regretted that he was missing Connor's final season. Thank goodness for technology so that he could watch the games from Dubai.

Kevin joined us for the game and to spend some family time together. I always try to take advantage of our times together for some family photos.

We also had to work in a family Texans game while Jeff was in town. From the early morning tailgating to the excitement in our awesome seats, we always have a full day of family fun.

Jeff was excited to be able to bike with the kids to school during his visit as well. School always seems way more fun when Sweet Daddy is around.

And when the kids were in school, Jeff and I loved sneaking away to our favorite lunch spots for some time together. Day dates have always been my favorite!

Before we knew it, the time had come for Jeff to return to work in Dubai. We had been through this departure and didn't think it would be so hard this time. We were wrong.

Saying goodbye was so tough. Normally I wouldn't think it was a blessing for the kids to get sick, but this time, it was a nice distraction that the kids needed to visit the clinic. We went straight to the doctor as Jeff made his way to the airport. Thank goodness the kids had something else on their minds besides their Dad leaving again.
