During our Singapore vacation, we stayed in a Fraser Suites 3-bedroom apartment with a full living room and kitchen. It had been a recommendation from some of our friends and turned out to be the BEST decision due to the comfort and room to spread out. One of the perks of the hotel was the breakfast buffet each morning. Jeff and I were super impressed that the kids branched out and began enjoying cheese omelets along with the other items on the buffet. Progress with our picky eaters!
For day 4 of our Singapore trip, we took a cab to the Singapore Zoo. Our week seemed to be catching up with us because both kids napped on the 25-minute cab ride!
The Singapore Zoo is quite popular and came highly recommended as one of the best attractions in the city. It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of zoos, but I will admit that this one was very nice and offered some fun attractions. We first took a shuttle bus ride around the entire park when we arrived in order to scope out the various exhibits. Kaitlynn was most excited that our shuttle turned out to be the zebra-themed one.
Our favorite exhibits included the larger animals like the elephants, lions, cheetahs, and rhinos. We watched one of the male lions get into a little tiff with one of his "friends" and his roars were incredibly loud! (No pictures of him, though, because I was too fascinated watching in person.)
Anyone who knows Kaitlynn will know of her obsessive love for zebras. She says that she loves them so much, they make her cry. Ha! She was super excited to see the zebras up close and got a great view of them. They also looked pretty cool in my iPhone portrait view.
The zoo had several onsite places to eat, including a KFC restaurant. The letters KFC have been a joke in our family for years because they are Kaitlynn's initials, and yet we have never eaten there. The lines were so long at the KFC in the Singapore Zoo, but we ended up enjoying our lunch and laughing at the fact that it was Kaitlynn's very first KFC experience. After lunch, the kids enjoyed an icy treat before we moved on to more of the zoo exhibits.
One of the most surprising exhibits to me was the caged-in monkey area. Visitors are allowed to walk through and get up close and personal with the monkeys. I couldn't believe how close Kaitlynn was standing to this little guy!
One of Kaitlynn's closest friends, Sophia, has always been a big lover of pandas. Kaitlynn insisted that we visit the panda exhibit and it turned out to be really neat. We made sure to get photos for Kaitlynn to send to Sophia in Texas.
In addition to the Singapore Zoo, we also spent part of our day exploring the River Safari and Night Safari. The night safari in particular was really neat, but of course it was too dark to get any decent photos. The warm and muggy day as well as the long lines for the attractions took some of the fun away from our day at the Zoo, but overall it was a good time and we were yet again exhausted when we made it back to our hotel.
