For Day 3 of our Singapore adventures, we took a taxi to the Sentosa Island resort area which is one of the most popular areas for tourists and visitors. There were a ton of activities and attractions at Sentosa that were included in our Hippo Pass. For our first stop, we visited the Skyline Luge which is an outdoor luge ride with 4 tracks. We rode a ski lift up to the top of the track area and then took the luge downhill. We all loved it!
After the luge, we walked next door to learn how to ride a Segway. This was a new experience for all of us and we all loved it! Our Hippo Pass only allowed us to take a short ride, but we were all in agreement that we'd definitely want to do another Segway experience in the future.
We continued walking down one of the main streets in the Sentosa resort, and we came upon the Sentosa Mega Adventure Park. The Adventure Park included multiple activities: MegaJump - bungee jumping; MegaZip - island zipline; MegaBounce - trampoline attraction; MegaWall - rock-climbing wall; and MegaClimb - ropes course. Our Hippo Pass allowed the kids to use the MegaBounce trampoline, and they were strapped in a harness before they began. Both had a blast and wore themselves out!
None of the other Mega adventures were included in our Hippo Pass, but it didn't take long before we were talked into trying the MegaZip zipline as a family. None of us had ever done a zipline before but this one definitely looked fun. It was relatively short and took you from the top of the Sentosa resort, over a forested area, and then directly over the water to the Sentosa beach below. We had no idea what to expect but we were excited to experience it together.
After being tightly strapped into harnesses, we rode a golf cart to the top of the Sentosa hills. From there, we climbed several sets of stairs all the way to the top of the zipline structure. They snapped our family photo and it was then that we were able to see the zipline cables and the long drop below. Oh my goodness, did the panic start setting in!
Connor and I were the first to go together, and I was borderline hyperventilating from terror. I couldn't believe I had signed up to do this! Granted, I love roller coasters but this felt totally different. Before I knew it, they released us and off we went. We screamed so loud but very quickly it turned from fear into FUN! It was amazing seeing the trees and then the beach below. Connor let go of his harness and spread out his arms to take it all in. It took me a few seconds but then I was able to let go as well. Wow, what a rush! When it was Jeff and Kaitlynn's turn, Kaitlynn let go of her rope immediately. Fearless! Jeff enjoyed the ride but didn't let go until the very end. I just loved our expressions (especially his!) in some of the photos they took of us.
We all agreed that the zipline experience was our very favorite activity of our entire Singapore trip! No doubt we will be looking for similar adventures in the future.
After the zipline, we ate some lunch and discussed what activities we wanted to do next. We let the kids try the MegaBounce one more time as we made our way around Sentosa Island. We ended up taking a bus to get to some additional activities near the main Sentosa entrance. There is a huge Merlion statue (the mascot of Singapore) to greet all of the visitors.
We walked and walked and finally made it to our destination, the cable car ride. There are two different cable car lines in Sentosa, and we used our Hippo Passes to ride each of them. They provided a really neat view of the entire Sentosa Island as well as back into the Marina area. We were even able to scope out some of the areas below that we planned to visit in the coming days. It was a nice break for us after an already full and exhausting day.
By the time we exited the cable car rides, we were so worn out. We intended to take a cab back to our hotel, but I insisted that we fit in one last attraction. Our Hippo Passes allowed us to choose one show at the Sentosa 4D Adventureland, and we decided to experience the Extreme Log Ride. It was a fun last activity of the day on the island.
Finally, we made our way to hail a taxi and return to our hotel. The kids were never so happy to rest and relax! It became another early night where they both voluntarily put themselves to bed around 8:30. Such a full, fun day and so much more ahead!
