Thanksmas 2024

We could hardly believe it when Thanksgiving week was upon us. In some ways the fall had dragged slowly - especially while we awaiting Connor's visit home - and other ways it seemed to fly by. We were excited to reunite as a family of 6 and travel to Michigan for our annual visit with the extended Arndt and Courtright families. And this year, it was even more special as we were fortunate to welcome Nana Judy after the loss of her precious Dave months earlier. Although her mobility had greatly declined, she was able to travel with Aunt Mary and Uncle Denny to join the family for this special tradition at Aunt Patti's home in Holland.

In the tough weeks and months since Grandpa Dave passed, Jeff had been spending so much time caring for his mom and making sure she was comfortable and cared for. He began calling daily, mainly to check in but also to let her know he was praying for her strength and health. Early on, they began to pray together, and his prayer list continued to grow to include all of the extended family and caregivers that impacted Nana and ensured her wellbeing. It was a touching and special moment they shared, and it became an important part of both of their days whether together or apart. One of our last special moments of our Thanksmas time together was a family prayer led by Jeff, where we had the opportunity to join hands and pray together with Nana as a family. It has become one of his favorite photos and now sits on his desk at home! So thankful for this amazing family and cherished memories together!
