One of the final events held in honor of the Class of 2024 graduates in Katy was the elementary school clap out, which is where the Katy graduates return to their elementary schools and walk the halls as the current students cheer them on to their next chapter. We spent SO many wonderful years at WoodCreek Elementary and have the most amazing memories from that time period with both kids. It was the most special morning of celebration with our now-graduates as they wore their caps and gowns, met up with current and former friends, hugged their former teachers, walked the halls surrounded by some precious kiddos, and took countless photos to commemorate the special occasion of their graduation.
First up, the graduates all gathered on the stage for a group photo in their caps and gowns, and it was incredible to see all the various colors representing the many different high schools these students had gone on to attend after elementary school. Connor caught up with several of his former classmates, and everyone was feeling so nostalgic for being back at WoodCreek for the last time.
The elementary children in all grades then lined the hallways for these graduates to walk one final time, and the graduation melody was playing in the hallways as the kids and teachers cheered and clapped them on, both literally and symbolically. Yet another surreal moment for me to see my own child walk these halls as an adult, because in my mind's eye I could still see him as a sweet little 1st grader walking joyfully along to his classroom.
The graduates made their way to the library, where a celebration was underway to recognize and honor these amazing students who were officially closing their Katy ISD chapter. The parents and former teachers all joined in the fun, with no shortage of hugs and photos as we reminisced and honored the graduates and their next steps. It was so wonderful to reunite with some of Connor's favorite teachers and friends, all who had such an impact on his younger self and his success as a student.
Connor and I were one of the last people to leave. We had so much fun reconnecting with his friends and teachers, sharing laughs and stories. It was such a special morning, and we even stopped by our custom family paver stone for one last pic. Never mind that they had misspelled his name on that, ha! What an amazing tradition and incredible way to honor Katy ISD graduates. We are so thankful for WoodCreek Elementary. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger!
