8th Grade Basketball - the Final Chapter

Toward the end of January, Kaitlynn's junior high season of basketball was in full swing with weekly games and tournaments. We were lucky this year with her schedule, because she had very few conflicts from her other activities like cheer competitions. As the season was coming to a close, Kaitlynn was closer than ever with her teammates and coaches. Her 8A team was having so much fun together and she made sure to savor every moment on the court. We loved watching our girl play, especially when her competitive nature would come out - making for some fun action shots and facial expressions, ha!

Some of my favorite memories of this basketball season include the team bonding moments with her besties, including her longtime friend Libby and her new friend Kynade from her beloved Partners in PE class. And of course, Kaitlynn always felt so loved when her brothers would come watch her play as well. Seeing all of her sweet friends and supporters in the bleachers each game was a highlight of our week while watching Kaitlynn soak in the remaining special moments of 8th grade basketball.

Kaitlynn's last game was such a bittersweet night. It was the very last junior high basketball game of the season, and most of the girls were taking the court for the final time of their school athletic careers. Their season under amazing Coach Severin had been the most fulfilling one yet, with true bonding and mutual respect between all the players - which was so refreshing after the tough year of school cheer that Kaitlynn continued to struggle through. This 8A team was so bonded with such talented and supportive athletes, and it was the most positive athletic experience Kaitlynn had ever been a part of. As they closed out their final game, there were tears all around with the realization that this special chapter of their junior high years had come to an end. What a blessing this 8A Lady Timberwolf basketball season had been, for ALL of us!
