As if she didn't have enough on her plate, in early Fall Kaitlynn decided that she wanted to try out for her 7th grade school basketball team. We were supportive and excited for her, but then she shared with us that over 125 other girls would be trying out for 36 spots on the 7th grade A, B, and C teams. Yikes! Knowing that information, we warned Kaitlynn that she would need to focus and begin training hard for the upcoming tryouts. With that much competition, there was no guarantee she would make the team, especially with her schedule already super full from her cheer and tumbling commitments.
Enter Coach Dad! Jeff stepped up and began working with Kaitlynn to organize practice sessions with all sorts of shooting, dribbling, and passing drills to begin preparing Kaitlynn for the school tryouts. They began hitting the "court" everyday - mornings before school, afternoons before and after her current activities, rain or shine, day or night.
Kaitlynn was so busy with her fall season of cheer that she was often dressed in her cheer uniform before or after school. That never stopped her from her basketball practices, though. She (and Jeff) were dedicated and relentless about finding any possible time to practice, and her hard work was definitely paying off as she approached the week of tryouts.
When tryouts finally arrived, Kaitlynn was READY. She arrived confident and strong, and she came home each day with stories of her accomplishments and goals for the following day. By the end of the week, she felt positive about her chances. I was away when the news came in at the end of the week.
Welcome to the newest member of the 7th grade Lady T'Wolves Basketball team!! So proud of this girl!!
