Bangkok Thailand

While in Bangkok, we made sure to soak in as much of our Thailand surroundings as possible between the many baseball games. Our hotel was very close to a huge shopping mall and we probably visited every day for various necessities, dining, and shopping. It was beautifully decorated for the Christmas holidays which made us feel right at home.

One of the first Thai experiences for the kids was to visit a Thai massage parlor inside the shopping mall. Several of the baseball team boys along with parents and siblings all lined up for a 1-hour foot massage at the equivalent of $10 each. Jeff and Connor loved it but Kaitlynn wasn't so sure.

After the relaxing foot massage, Connor and his teammates enjoyed some Subway for lunch followed by a quick swim at the hotel before practice on the first day.

The school campus that hosted the tournament, International School of Bangkok, was right around the corner from a little Mexican restaurant we heard about. It was owned by an American and turned out to be my favorite meal of the trip. We had tables and tables of chips, fajitas, quesadillas, and margaritas, and the final bill for our family was less than $25!

During our visit to Bangkok, we stayed at a Best Western hotel with many of our Dubai Falcons teammates. The kids enjoyed having the run of the hotel during their downtime, and we ran into most of them each morning during the amazing breakfast buffet. While Kaitlynn is still quite the picky breakfast eater, Connor chowed down on huge egg and cheese omelets and plates of bacon followed by chocolate marble cake.

I couldn't resist sharing this photo from our Bangkok hotel by one of our fellow baseball family friends. He posted it with the following caption: "This selective use of BOLD font started out ok...then because questionable before outright ill-advised!" HA!!

With the heavy practice and game schedule, Kaitlynn and I found ourselves with some downtime while the boys were away. We enjoyed the mother/daughter time by walking to the mall for some shopping and special treats. Kaitlynn is still quite fond of anything in a zebra pattern and managed to purchase several zebra items as well as the most perfect zebra manicure ever. We also started a bad habit of enjoying a hot chocolate here and there which I'm still trying to kick.
